We take great pride that our employees choose to give back to the communities where they live, work and visit, to create moments of lasting change. From this dedication to social responsibility, Beyond KHM was born.
Beyond KHM is our employee-led volunteer group who work to coordinate partnerships with advocacy groups and/or nonprofits, organize quarterly volunteer events for employees to participate in, and recruit speakers to provide insight and learning opportunities focused around how best to support and uplift other communities.
Beyond KHM’s most recent partnership was with the Vibe Tribe Foundation, an organization dedicated to improving access and education to the outdoors for underserved youth. Through this partnership, we were able to participate in a Youth Beach Day at the Aurora Reservoir where more than 50 participants connected with the Transformative Justice Project of Colorado, and were able to experience the outdoors without barriers.
Volunteers provided paddleboards, flotation devices, food and refreshments, water safety demonstrations, and an art therapy workshop for a day overflowing with fun opportunities. For many participants, this beach day was a first. With thoughtful planning and care, it became a chance to get outside, enjoy something new, and make memories along the way.
Spending a day outdoors can sound simple. But access often depends on having transportation, equipment, experience and, perhaps most importantly, the opportunity to experience the outdoors with confidence and curiosity. This Beach Day helped create more of those opportunities, giving participants the chance to spend time outside, try something new, and experience the outdoors on their own terms.
One of the core values of Vibe Tribe that inspired our team was their dedication to creating a space that felt both mentally and physically safe for youth who may have never experienced the outdoors before. Providing this safe space helps to create lifelong outdoor enthusiasts and environmental advocates within the children who participate in these days of play. We believe that fostering a love for nature creates healthier, more resilient communities and that, by connecting with youth to nurture their spark, we inspire the next generation of creatives for the workforce.
We could not be more grateful to the Vibe Tribe Foundation and the Transformative Justice Project of Colorado for allowing us the opportunity to partner on this impactful project. The Beyond KHM team is more passionate than ever about the positive changes our team can make and are already looking forward to the next opportunity!
